Mission and Aim of the Laboratory<\/p>\n

The Laboratory is part of the Department of Nursing of the University of Patras<\/span>.<\/span> <\/strong>The aim of the laboratory is to train health professionals with modern simulation methods, both undergraduate and postgraduate, as well as in the context of continuing education and lifelong learning.<\/p>\n

  1. Research to improve the clinical competence of nursing graduates through the use of simulation.<\/li>\n
  2. Research on the adaptation of nursing curricula to modern educational trends.<\/li>\n
  3. Research activity and evaluation of the competence of regional Health Professionals in the safe laboratory environment, with the aim of improving the prognosis of patients.<\/li>\n
  4. Research into best practice for \u201cappropriate use\u201d of simulation in healthcare<\/span> education and the link between educational and clinical productivity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Online<\/span> Interactive Education<\/h2>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Educational institutions at all levels are often criticized for being behind the technology age. To teach effectively, educators must embrace popular technology to make online<\/span> learning meet student expectations. Rather than forcing students to disengage when taking online<\/span> classes, educators should use the technology now available to bring face-to-face interactions into the online<\/span> learning experience.<\/p>\n

    Perhaps Confucius said it best: \u201cTell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    We have developed an online<\/span> learning platform, which is in its early stages, but we are adding new material periodically. The platform is free with a simple registration via your email. The reason we require registration is so that each member can have a personalized view of their progress and performance.<\/p>\n

    Virtual Reality<\/h2>\n

    In the lab we develop virtual reality packages drawing on themes mainly from Community Nursing and Health Education. On the left you can get an idea by watching the video, and if you are interested you can make an appointment to experience it in 3D in the lab.<\/p>\n

    International Collaborations<\/h2>\n

    The laboratory, despite its young age, is already participating in projects and has developed international collaborations. In collaboration with 5 countries, we have developed the project <\/span>PROMOCON, <\/span><\/strong>an educational project funded by Erasmus+, designed to develop the ethical competence of nurses. The project uses the most innovative teaching methods including interactive presentations, interactive videos and animations, interviews with experts in the field, short educational videos enriched with PowerPoint<\/span> presentations and many more.
